Cancer/Caregiver Support GroupImagine a place you could go when you are facing a diagnosis of cancer, a place you could sort out your feelings of shock, fear and disbelief. Imagine a place your family member, your best friend or co-worker could go to gain support for these unexpected circumstances.
Who are we?Hospice Wellington's trained volunteers and Guelph General Hospital Social Work Services are offering a program for newly diagnosed Cancer Clients and their caregivers. "If there had been a group of 'newly diagnosed people with whom I could have expressed my fears and anxieties and not to try to put on a brave face all the time, I know it would have been a great emotional help to me." Who are you?You are men and women who are recently diagnosed with cancer or who have loved ones touched by this unexpected news. You are individuals seeking:
How will we work together?The goal of this group is to provide a safe place to share feelings and experiences. Confidentiality will be respected. Volunteers/facilitators are there to listen and provide support. By sharing with others you may gain comfort and reassurance that you are not alone. The Program:The Cancer/Caregiver Support Group is an ‘open’ weekly support group that forms when enough people are registered. If you are interested in this Group, please call Hospice Wellington. Services are free of charge, non-denominational, and no referral is necessary. Other Services:A Cancer Support Group is being offered by the Canadian Cancer Society for those individuals who have a recurrence of cancer and for their caregivers. Canadian Cancer Society
