Volunteer Visits

Hospice volunteer visits provide emotional support, simple comfort measures and relief to caregivers.

Trained Hospice volunteers are matched with clients after an assessment by the Hospice Wellington Director of Care.

Listening is a volunteer’s first and foremost responsibility.

Volunteers are available to support clients and their families in any way possible. This support may be through conversation, silence, a gentle hand or foot massage, tidying a room, offering a cup of tea –- small ways to ease the stress. Volunteers can provide a moment of "normality" in an often-busy environment.

Hospice Volunteers can provide respite to a tired caregiver. Volunteers may sit with a loved one while the caregiver goes for lunch, runs errands or takes a nap.

Nursing and related services are accessed through the Community Care Access Centre.
